Yay! RevoluzZzionary Design in Tokyo, Dublin and Berlin

Recently I took part at a competition of a local bag designer: tauschetasche.

It’s a pretty successfull shop with a nice idea: You can change the cover of your bag whenever you like and there are many, many different covers you can buy. And so it’s like you have a new bag when you change the cover (and every woman loves new bags of course). Or you change the cover for a special occasion. Or just another cover for every outfit. Most of the stylish women and mommies here in Berlin/Prenzlauer Berg own a tauschetasche-bag (and of course I own one too :-) ). Recently the tauschetasche-team opened new shops – one in Dublin and one in Tokyo.

And that was the theme of the contest: Dublin – Tokyo.

Means: Special covers for the shops in Tokyo and Dublin.

Today I got an email that told me that I didn’t win the first, second or third prize. Well, that’s alright. But: I won an special prize and soon you can buy a bag cover with a cute little manga-girl on it. And – it’s an originally revoluzZzionary design :-)

Here you can see the other winners.

You can see all the great works in an exhibition:

Kittygirl – Next Generation

Alright. I liked the first kittygirl – but some things were not that good as i thought they would be. So here is the Kittygirl – Next Generation:

This time i decided to make stitched eyes instead of felt eyes – and the body and the head shape is a bit different, too.

What do you think?

New Creatures

I really like the theme „creatures“ a lot – and it made me think about a creature I wanted to make already a long time ago.

My kids are huge fans of the book „Where the Wild Things Are“ and there is this little lion-hearted boy Max who has exciting adventures and wears a wolf costume. Although it’s just a costume it made me wanna create a softie that is half human  and half an animal. Of course this is a very old idea that was used already in very old mythological stories (Sphinx, Centaur, Minotaur, mermaids and so on).

And now this plan came to my mind again and I made a sketch of a kitty and a bunny girl:

And today I sewed the first little brandnew RevoluzZza creature :-)

kitty girl

I really like her – and I made a mistake concerning her face (used a wrong material) – and so I’m not giving her away. And I like it that she is going to stay with us :-) . Actually we don’t own many RevoluzZza dolls.

I already made a new pattern, changed her body and her arms a bit. I hope I will finish another kitty girl tomorrow.

RevoluzZza goes L.A.

I’m very excited and happy about the fact, that I’m invited to join some of my RevoluzZza creatures to an exhibition in Los Angeles. Mr. Funky is organizing a show at the gallery Ghetto Gloss at the end of September this year. The theme is „creatures“ – and I LOVE it.

Alright, there is lot’s of work to do now :-)

BTW: Do you know „Mr. Funky“? She is an amazing artist and is creating „crochet stuffed animals and knit wear with retro 1920’s to 1970’s styling“. And her creations are really great –  have a look at her work at flickr. And she also made a very nice book about her work: Mr. Funky’s Super Crochet Wonderful with photos of her animals, fashion accessories, caps and so on – all with patterns and instructions. It’s great, if you do crochet or are interested in crochet – you should really have a look at this book. Oh, and she even made caps for some celebreties: Christina Aguilera and Charlize Theron. And her work was published in many magazines. Well, just have a look at her website. It’s worth it! :-)

Bags, bags, bags…

For a special event I designed a new type of RevoluzZza bags. It’s a very simple but special shape. I wanted it to be just straight and plain vanilla.

And here it is:

Red Bag

For now there are two types: one with an appliqué and one just plain.

Blue Bag

There are more bags like this to come. I think :-)

The Pippi Bag

After I made so many stuffed animals… I really liked to create something different. I didn’t make any bags for quite some time – so I thought it would be great to make some more bags.

This is one I made for my little daughter who just started to go to the kindergarten – and needed a kindergarten bag. She is a huge Pippi Longstocking fan. Sometimes when we ask her what her name is – she even answers: „I am…. PIPPILOTTAAA!“ (Remember? Pippi Longstockings whole name is: Pippilotta Delicatessa Windowshade Mackrelmint Ephraimsdaughter Longstocking :-) ).

Well, so it has to be a Pippi Longstocking bag for my daughter.

It’s made out of a lot of different fabrics outside and inside – just as Pippi Longstocking would like it :-).

On the back I stitched Liliths name. Even when this is a Pippi Lonstocking bag – it’s still Lilith’s bag :-) .Pippi Longstocking Bag
